Our Mission

The mission of Dead Canary Theatre is to bring a unique and compelling approach to storytelling that creates excellent theatrical entertainment each time our curtain rises by crafting stories that will open eyes and hearts, bring joy and reflection, stir thought and conversation, raise awareness and understanding, and offer both nostalgia and fresh perspectives.

Who We Are

For generations, the canary has been a symbol of communication and awareness. The canary song can convey joy, freedom, protection, concern, pleasure, hope. The canary sings out, teaching us the living of life, inspiring us to use our voices to tell our stories, express our hopes and dreams, embrace our individual journeys, our tribulations and triumphs along the way. When the canary has sung its last, the message is clear. Time’s up. It’s time to act.  

Live theater speaks to us in much the same way. The expression of storytelling, our song, ignites joy and entertains, opens closed minds, builds and mends bridges, refreshes the lessons of our past, warns of dangers to come, provokes reflection, discussion, understanding of our commonality. Our shared theatre experience calls on us all to use our voices, reminds us of who we are, renewing in each of us the transformative power of the human connection.
